In order to equip a new generation of vocational students with skills that meet industry needs and drive forward the government’s Thailand 4.0 strategy, the Chevron Enjoy Science project has joined hands with the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) to improve the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning and teaching in vocational education. One of the collaboration is the provision of teaching materials that include the workshop for teachers to use the new material and curriculum. Through this workshop, teachers can learn how to integrate inquiry-based learning into their classroom so as to make classes more fun and easier for students to understand. This will ultimately lead to decrease the dropout rate amongst students and will spark their interest in following the vocational education path.
The teaching materials and curriculum derive from It’s About Time (IAT), the global leader in research-based Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curricula in the US. and is well recognized by educational institutes worldwide for its success in enhancing vocational teaching.
The strength of this activity is that it enables teachers to understand and develop an insight into inquiry-based or project-based instruction.
